WordPress is definitely a good start. It’s easy to manage your site/post. Another good thing is you’ll have many themes to choose from. You’ll always find suitable design for your site.
For paid choice, personally, I pay for web hosting. Now most of web hosting services provide tools to setup wordpress for you. Once wordpress installed, what you need to do is just choose a theme for your site, and then you can start writing. You don’t need to have web development knowledge.
By the way, for those product-selling sites, it’ll be good to have obvious nice taken product images. Customers are more easily attracted by graphics.
